The Scaling City Institutions for India (SCI-FI) at Centre for Policy Research is a multidisciplinary research, outreach, and policy support initiative. It has two key thematic focus in areas of Land, Housing and Planning, and Water and Sanitation. The SCI-FI initiative is nested at CPR since 2013.

SCI-FI programme at CPR aims at cross-sectoral and policy-relevant research on urban sanitation. It seeks to understand the reasons for poor sanitation, and to examine how these might be related to technology, service delivery, institutions, governance, finance, and socio-economic dimensions. It also seeks to support national, state and city authorities in developing policies and programmes for intervention with the goal of increasing access to safe and sustainable sanitation in urban areas.

Scaling City Institutions for India (SCI-FI) is looking to hire student interns on rolling basis. The call for interns is valid for the period December 2022 to March 2023. We require student interns for the following positions:

Legal Intern: The legal intern will support our research work on regulatory studies in the field of water and sanitation, and Land Planning and Housing.  

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled in a 5-Year B.A. L.L.B./ B.B.A. L.L.B/ B. Sc. L.L.B programme of 3-year LLB programme with relevant internship experience in the policy sector.
  • Eligible candidates must be students in the 3rd Year or above of the 5-year integrated programme or 2nd Year or above in 3-year LLB programme.
  • Ability to conduct legal research through legal databases such as Manupatra & SCC, law commentaries/books, government offices and websites.
  • Ability to summarise judgments as well as legislations into precise, clear, and concise notes.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Policy Research Intern: Research intern will support us on our research work related to city wide inclusive sanitation.

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master course in Sociology /Development/ Public Policy/ Gender Studies.
  • For those enrolled in undergraduate courses, final year students will be preferred.
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews on topics related to social inclusion in water and sanitation.
  • Ability to process and analyse primary (quantitative and qualitative) and secondary data including policy documents.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Communication and Administrative Intern: Communication and Administrative intern will support us in developing and executing our communication strategy and support in administrative and project management tasks.

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or a Master course in Mass Communication/ Development Communication /Commerce/recent MBA graduates.
  • For those enrolled in undergraduate courses, final year students will be preferred.
  • Ability to develop communication materials for social media engagement
  • Conducting research on donors and philanthropic organisations.
  • Drafting letters and internal memos for different project related activities, as directed by supervisor.
  • Providing support to staff members in other departments as needed.
