Digital India is a campaign launched by the Government of India to make its services available to citizens electronically via improved online infrastructure and by increasing Internet connectivity. The initiative includes plans to connect rural areas with high-speed internet networks.

About the Digital India Internship 2024

An internship is an opportunity for a student to secure first-hand and practical work experience under the guidance of a qualified and experienced Supervisor/Mentor. It also aims at active participation in the learning process through experimentation and putting into practice the knowledge acquired in the classrooms. For the larger benefit of the student community and to enrich the management/ implementation of its various schemes/ programs, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has decided to notify these “Internship Guidelines”, to provide a framework for the engagement of Interns for a limited period.

Eligibility

Indian students from recognized universities in India who have secured at least 60% marks in the last held degree or certificate examination and are pursuing:

  • B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)/ Computer Science (CS)/IT/ Electronics & Communications (EC)/ Electronics/Electrical)
  • M.Sc.(CS/IT/ Electronics/ Electrical)
  • MCA/DOEACC ‘B’ level
  • LL.B
  • B.E/B. Tech (Electronics & Communications (EC)/ Electronics) and MBA (Finance) OR M.Sc. (Electronics) and MBA (Finance)
  • #Students would be considered for internship only for ‘Cyber Laws’ and ‘Public Policy on Internet areas.
  • Students would be considered for internship only for the “Project appraisal and Funding methodologies for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing units vis a vis international economies” area. Note: The students in the last semester or who will pass out in summer 2024 will not be eligible for the internship.
  • Only students who are in the previous year will be eligible. Possessing the minimum qualifications above shall not guarantee an internship in this Ministry. Candidates having exposure in the area of intended internship with a good academic background and having higher qualifications, based on need shall be given preference.

Duration of Internship

The detailed time schedule of various activities is indicated in the Annexure. The minimum duration of the internship shall be of two months, extendable up to three months, depending on the performance of the candidate, the requirement of the Ministry and the time the intern is willing to spend with the Ministry.

Mode

The mode of internship i.e. Virtual or physical will be decided by the concerned Supervisor/mentor, based on the requirement. Generally, Interns are required to be present at the Ministry premises from 09.00 am to 05.30 pm, unless otherwise permitted by the Supervisor/Mentor in writing.

Stipend

A token stipend of Rs.10,000/- per month would be paid to an Intern, subject to satisfactory performance, duly certified by his Supervisor/Mentor.

The intern shall be paid after the completion of internship on submission of Report duly accepted by this Ministry.

Certificate

Certificates will be issued by the Ministry to the Interns on the completion of internship and submission of Report duly countersigned and accepted by the Competent Authority

Application Procedure

The application needs to be sponsored/forwarded by the Institution where the applicant is currently enrolled.
